cynohn's question:
I'm writing my PhD thesis on the Mayan culture. Know anything that could interest me in Chiapas?(give a different answer) .
One of the first Mayan sites to be discovered lies there, at the base of the Usumacinta mountains. It's called the Palenque, and it was a flourishing town during the Classic Period, 6th to 9th century AD, recognized as an art, religion and astronomy hub. It's a good spot to study on the stucco carvings, calligraphy and decorations. Don't miss the Temple of Inscriptions, where King Pacal was buried in 683 AD.
